Inspiration Café Teaching & Learning Lab: Students’ experiences with Online Education & The LifeLongLearning platform

TLL inspiratiecafe

The Teaching & Learning Lab organizes an Inspiration Café every second Thursday of the month. Alternately, a story by a teacher, a student or an interesting educational tool will be presented. But above all, there is an opportunity to exchange ideas about education with colleagues. In September we will continue with the online version of the Inspiration Café. You are responsible for the drink from the fridge and maybe a bite, then we will take care of the Inspiration!

We kick off the new academic year with not one, but two speakers! Arthur Bakker and colleagues share the first results of their research into students’ experiences with online education and Maryse Leloup talks about the various possibilities in the LifeLongLearning platform of the UU.

‘If we make a good inventory right now, we can learn from the current situation for the future of higher education.’ Already at the beginning of April, Arthur Bakker wrote this text in his research proposal. His goal? To use the experiences of this unique time to perhaps reconsider parts of our university education and to inspire teachers to redesign their courses. He and his colleagues have carried out their research at a rapid pace and on the 10th of September he is happy to share the first results with you. More than 1400 UU-students have shared their wishes for the new semester and Arthur will summarize them for you.

After you have listed these wishes, you are probably also looking for a way to make them technologically and didactically possible. The LifeLongLearning platform might be able to respond to this. All kinds of learning activities come together in this UU-managed platform; you can set up an e-learning, combine different tools, create discussion forums, etc. Educational advisor Maryse Leloup will be happy to show you the possibilities this platform might provide for your education.

In short, are you still looking for input for your lessons in period 1 and 2? Are you curious about the wishes of students and/or the technological and didactic possibilities? Then don’t hesitate any longer and block 10 September 4 p.m. in your agenda! See you then.
